INSIGHT International experts have a track record of leading international projects and initiatives funded by key donors in global mental health that successfully deliverer sustainable and measurable outcomes. Our key areas of expertise:

  • Provide technical assistance and expert support to re-designing and implementation of national/regional mental health systems, including service models, pathways of care, package of services and funding mechanisms.
  • Provide hands-on support to setting up/upgrading of community mental health services.
  • Provide technical assistance and expert support in the design and implementation of horizontal programmes aimed at integrating mental health into other health areas (e.g. primary care, violence prevention, chronic care, maternal and reproductive health) or non-health sectors (e.g. social welfare, police departments, employment & education, as well as in agri-business and other development sectors).
  • Supporting the setting up of recovery colleges run by peer experts.
  • Design & develop training curricula for continuous education courses for mental health professionals as well as for professionals from other sectors with responsibilities for people with mental health problems; facilitate their integration into continuous education organisations;.
  • Organise train-the-trainer courses and large-scale roll-outs at regional or national level for different professional groups.
  • Provide expert input to development or revision of academic curricula for trainee mental health professionals as well as for professionals from other sectors with responsibilities for people with mental health issues.
  • Provide support for building capacity and mentorship of professionals and other caregivers involved in the treatment and care of people with mental health issues; supervision in clinical practice, case studies, conferences, and an interactive network of community teams.
  • Design and deliver change management coaching programmes for managers of mental health services.
  • Training persons with lived experience to become professional peer experts.
  • Provide technical assistance to national and regional governments in the development or updating of mental health policy documents & implementation plans aligned with key international policies relevant to mental health.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and standards of mental health care.
  • Facilitate the creation of intersectoral partnerships & organise policy dialogues with key stakeholders, social services, police, justice, local authorities, civil society, community leaders and the scientific communities.
  • Contribute to steering of the European Community Mental Health Services Network.
  • Coordinate, host or provide technical input to meetings of experts or decision makers in our beneficiary countries or at international level.
  • Design, conduct or participate in research to evaluate national/regional mental health systems, including service models, pathways of care, package of services and funding mechanisms.
  • Design, conduct or participate in international research that benchmarks progress achieved by mental health services or at system level in relation to targets set out in international policies or strategic documents.
  • Advise and support the setting up of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms in mental health services and at system level.
  • Design, conduct or participate in implementation research focused on mental health and integrated health systems.
  • Undertake advocacy activities and engages with donor agencies and catalysing their support for mental health and integrated health systems.
